NOVEMBER 6-8, 2009
ART && CODE continues a successful series about the aesthetic and tactical potentials of mobile, networked and locative media.

“MOBILE ART && CODE: Mobile Media and Interactive Arts” is a three-day symposium focused on the design of new forms of mobile and locative experiences. The event features hands-on workshops in arts-oriented mobile phone programming (including workshops in creating software for the iPhone, Android, Nokia, text mesaging, etc.), interface design for mobile devices, interactive telephony systems, and prototyping with the Arduino (a tiny computer which is popular for making interactive objects). Additionally, we also will have a marathon day featuring a dozen lecture presentations by leading international artists, designers, historians, hackers, entrepreneurs and researchers working in these areas.

MOBILE ART && CODE is made possible by a generous grant from Microsoft Research, with oversight by the Center for Computational Thinking at CMU. The ART && CODE symposium series is a project of the CMU STUDIO for Creative Inquiry, directed by Professor of Art Golan Levin. If you have questions or concerns about MOBILE ART && CODE, please email Golan Levin at golan@andrew.cmu.edu.

ATTENTION ART STUDENTS!
The School of Art has generously made available a limited number of scholarships for Art students to attend workshops at Mobile Art && Code. They are limited to 1 workshop per student and are offered on a first-come (“dibs”) basis. Students interested in this should contact Tom Justofin, Office Associate, at justofin@cmu.edu.
